I want this!

For the last 2 years I have been using the NLT Life Application Study Bible.  It has been great.  But I just saw today that they are releasing an NLT Study Bible in September.  Yes, I have an addiction of buying Bibles and giving away Bibles I have used, but this will be the next [...]

Donald Miller Prays at the DNC

Well since we spent the last week in the hospital with Jackson I missed some of the news and coverage of the Democratic Convention. However, my good friend Tyler and our new Student Worship Coordinator showed me these two videos yesterday take a look

Not Just Another Sunday

Well today was the day for Not Just Another Sunday. An idea that came up at a service planning meeting a couple of months ago, which would bring all the ministries together for one service 2 times on this day August 30th. I was pumped!!!!
Our Student Band got to lead the adults in [...]

The New Setup

Well, since we have been home we have been busy taking care of Jackson.  We are watching his temporture closely.  Josiah and I were busy moving his crib down to our room.  We decided to make the switch to a more permanent set up until we get a better control on his health.  Jackson has [...]

Prayer for Jackson – Day 3

We are HOME!!!!  Jackson is almost back to himself!  He is still congested! The respiratory nurse said it wasn’t in his chest anymore but sound to be in his upper respiratory.  He tends to run a slight fever so we will be watching that like a hawk and continue to give him Motrin.
Thanks again for [...]

Prayer for Jackson – Day 2 update

Well Jackson is doing better.  He had a breathing treatment this morning and starts another round of antibiotics this afternoon.  If everything keeps going as planned we should be going home tomorrow.
This morning things got real exciting when a special visitor made an appearance!  I believe this was a turning point in Jackson’s recovery because [...]

Prayer for Jackson – Day 2

We survived a long night!  Jackson ran a fever all night even with Motrin and Tylenol offset every 4 hours.  He is starting to sound congested. Every time they try to get blood from him he turns into a pin cushion.  He and Stephanie both have small veins. The poor guy has been pocked to [...]

We have a room . . .and a Soccer Star

Thanks for all the calls, visits, email, and post!  It is so nice to know that we have friends that care so deeply for us.  Today has been long.  We didn’t get an actual room until 5:30pm.  This afternoon was ruff.  I don’t think Jackson got the care he needed.  I won’t go into detail [...]

Prayer for Jackson

Well we are at the Hospital!  Jackson was having trouble breathing last night, well early this morning.  When we got him to the hospital the real scare happened.  Jackson is on anti seizure medicine, and has had several test to find out why he was twitching earlier this past year, but luckily, until early this [...]

Life In Transition 5 – Giving Away Ministry by Empowering Leaders

One of the greatest ways to hit a glass ceiling in your ministry is to try to do it all yourself!  Trust me I know!  I struggle with this daily . . . but I am getting better!  Over the last year I have had the privilege of being involved in some intense leadership training.  [...]

Late Night

Last night one of our former students (Josh Robinson) was in town playing drums for Dave Barnes, so the family made the trek to DBU to hang out with him and catch a free show.  I must admit that DBU has from what i saw, a great campus.  It sits on a hill overlooking a [...]

John 10:1-18

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” v.10
This happens to be one of my favorite verses.  It explains so much in so little.  Many time people want to argue the existence of God with this statement.  “If God is a loving [...]

Hornet 1 . . . Cat 0

I just watched my cat try to eat a hornet all to find out hornets sting when they are threatened.  Even though the Hornet is half dead, he still managed to sting the cat on his tongue!!!  So funny!!!!

I guess if the cats face swells we know he is allergic to Hornets!

Leaders Summit @ Grace – Day 3

Well today was the last day of Leaders Summit for the staff at Grace. We had a great discussion on these two topics this morning People Skills and Developing Leaders.  As a Leader, both of these areas, as are the other 10,  are crucial to the advancement of the Ministry or Organization. Here is what [...]

John 9

“I don’t know whether he is a sinner,” the man replied. “But I know this: I was blind, and now I can see!” v. 25
What a great response!  This man, who was once blind, is being questioned by religious leaders about Jesus.  The man doesn’t know much, all he knows is that Jesus healed him [...]

Weekend Rewind!

What a great day at Fusion!!  We said goodbye to Josh, who has served faithfully as our Student Worship Leader, and welcomed Tyler in as the New Student Worship Coordinator.  Josh is leaving for college.  We are sad to see him go, but excited to see how God uses him.  Tyler, is filling a brand [...]

RAIN DOWN By Delirious

I can’t get this song out of my head since Tyler, our NEW Student Worship Coordinator at Fusion, taught it to our student band and led with it last weekend! I am so excited about Tyler being on board with us and believe that God is going to use him greatly at Fusion. Tyler [...]

Who Am I?

Well since my wife called me out on her blog, and quizzed me to see how well I knew her, I guess I will answer a couple of questions about myself!
1. Do you like blue cheese? Um, don’t know! What’s blue cheese?  I don’t like the salad dressing, thought it was ranch once!
2. Favorite T.V [...]

We got Croup!

Well it’s official, Josiah has gone 4 years without getting it and now he has it!  Cant wait to see how he handles the steroid.  Now the challenge is to keep him away from his brother Jackson so he doesn’t get it.  Of coarse its the weekend so could be an exciting one, in a [...]

Got a Sick One!

Josiah woke up yesterday (Thursday) with a cough.  Though it sounded bad, like I did when I was a kid, he acted fine and was his normal self.  Last night however, he sounded horrible!   You could hear the congestion now when he talked.  After a stint in the bathroom with the shower on, we got [...]

Luke 12:22-34

“Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” v. 25

Jesus commands us not to worry.  But how can we avoid it?  Only faith can free us from the anxiety caused by greed and covetousness.  Working and planning responsibly is good; dwelling on all the ways our planning could go wrong is bad.  [...]

Luke 12:1-21

Meanwhile, the crowds grew until thousands were milling about and stepping on each other. Jesus turned first to his disciples and warned them, ‘Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees—their hypocrisy. 2 The time is coming when everything that is covered up will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to [...]

Preacher Faked Illness?

A FORMER Adelaide pastor who inspired hundreds of thousands of young Christians with his terminal cancer “battle” has been exposed as a fraud.
According to this article the writer of the song “Healer” which has been a very instrumental song in my journey this summer faked his cancer.  I really hope it’s not true, saddens me [...]
