Outline . . . DONE!!!

Just finished my outline for this weekends talk in the “Big House.”  For some reason this talk has been dificult already.  I am praying that God uses it to draw people close to Him.  Here are the two main sections we are going to talk about:
The Power of Secret Sin
The Power of the Cross
With it [...]

John 5

“So Jesus explained, ‘I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.’” v.19 (NLT)
Jesus, fully God, fully Human, says that he con do nothing by himself.  It doesn’t mean that Jesus was weak, incompetent, or [...]

Josiah Quote

Tonight, as I was putting Jackson down to sleep, I left the TV on Jurassic Park and told Josiah it was about Dinosaurs!  Probably 10 minutes later he came in the room and said, “Dad this is boring, it’s just people running from a big Dinosaur!  Can I watch Sponge Bob?”

Date Night Recap

On our very first date Stephanie and I took a picture together in my Toyota pickup as we headed off to Andy’s frozen Custard and a movie.  I still remember it like it was yesterday.  Last night we started the night off the same way.  We got in the Cherokee and took a picture as [...]

Luke 5:17-32

“Jesus answered them, ‘Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.’” v. 31-32 (NLT)
Jesus didn’t come to make religious people more religious.  He came to seek out those who were lost, [...]

My Blog Now On Facebook

If you have face book you can now follow my blog form there if this works. Thanks Cate for finding the application!

Youth Ministry Reminder!

I saw this on my friend Nicks Blog.  I was at the YS conference when they showed this for the first time remembering Mike just after he died!  Great reminder as to why we work with teenagers.

Date Night!!!

I am so excited, my wife and I get to go on a date night tonight!  One of our students has volunteered to watch our two boys.  This will be the first time that we will be able to go out and not worry to much about Jackson.  Now we have to decide what we [...]

Luke 5:11-16

“Jesus reached out and touched him. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be healed!’ And instantly the leprosy disappeared.” v.13
Jesus has the power to completely heal and restore. This leaper was not afraid to ask Jesus for help, but he also believed that Jesus could help him.  Whatever you are dealing with, yesterday, today, or tomorrow, [...]

Need A Laugh?

These guys put a train horn in their car! Check out the video. SOOOOO FUNNY!!

more about “Train Horn Scare Prank“, posted with vodpod

Family Pictures

While I was away at Camp, (awesome week with God and Students at Wild Week), Stephanie and the boys, as well as Nana and Papa, her mom and dad, had pictures taken.  In my office I have a new picture of Stephanie and the boys given as a Fathers Day present!  I love my family!

Street Bowl Champs

Last night we hosted our first Street Bowl.  3 teams competed in a double elimination 5 on 5 flag football tournament.  Each team consisted of 4 guys and 1 girl.  Here are three pics of the champions!

Luke 5:1-11

“When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, ‘Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m too much of a sinner to be around you.’” v.8
Have you ever doubted God?  Have you ever not been obedient to what God tells you to do because you have failed at it before?  [...]

One Small Step For Jackson

It’s official, Jackson is trying to walk.  I had a feeling he would take his first couple of steps while I was at Camp last week but he waited until I got home.  Last night, he took 2 steps before he fell down and then today, Stephanie said he took 4 steps.  It won’t be [...]

Mark 1:16-39

“Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.”  v.35
What a lesson!  Jesus made time to commune with The Father.  He was always busy, but even He made time to get away and meet with God.  It’s easy to get caught up with ministry, work, school, and [...]

Swamped

Man I have so much to do and can’t seem to stay focused.  We started a new series this week called The Epistle.  We are teaching through 1, 2, 3 John.  This week we dive into chapter 1, and next week chapter 2 in the Big House.  Everyone needs an outline, so they can put [...]

Luke 4:16-30

“But I tell you the truth, no prophet is accepted in his own hometown.” v. 24
The awesome thing about Jesus is when someone commits their life to him, He can take that mess and make it a masterpiece.  However, sometimes people that know you, don’t necessarily look at the person you are today, they remember [...]

VBS 08 – Grace Island

Today is the first day of VBS at Grace.  This year it is doubly special for me because my 4 year old can participate and many of our students are serving as small group leaders. It is going to be an awesome week!  So excited for Joe and our church!  I just hope the newly [...]

John 4:43-54

“Jesus asked, ‘Will you never believe in me unless you see miraculous signs and wonders?’” v.48
What does it take for us to believe in Jesus?  Do we believe what He says, not just some of it, but all of it?  If Jesus says it will happen, it will happen.  The father in this story knew [...]

Wild Week Pictures

Here are some pictures I captured with my phone.  Thinking to myself right now we need to take a photographer to these events or start a ministry with students to capture what happens.  I am just not that good at it!

Wild Week 08 – Orange Beach

I have been posting daily updates of what was going on and how God moved while we were at camp.  Click here to read the daily journey!

Summer Camp

Right now I am packing for summer camp. We are taking out students to Orange Beach AL. for Wild Week. I hate to pack, but am really excited to hang out with the students and connect with God together. I don’t know if I will have internet connection but we would totally appreciate [...]

PAPA DAN

My dad came and hung out with us tonight.  Josiah was so excited!!  Every 10 minutes at the pool today he was asking, is PaPa Dan here yet?  My dad finally got here at 6:00pm and neither onw of the boys let him out of their sight.  They wrestled, played soccer, watched a movie, and [...]

Bedtime Question

Tonight, as we are laying down as a family, Jackson is watching a Baby Einstein movie and the three of us Stephanie, Joe, and myself are in the bed. Josiah decides to ask, “Why are people Black?” It is amazing how little minds think. I simply answered that God made some people [...]

John 4:1-42

“‘But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.’” v.23-24
One of my favorite passages describing authentic, true [...]
